On gifts for kids, 3–8
Three to eight covers a great deal of ground, from first scissors to first chapter books. The Department files gifts here that reward building, making, digging and pretending, with a firm preference for toys still in use in March. Every item is checked for age grading and against the CPSC recall list before filing. For a more specific case, the Gift Finder narrows the field to five.
